Listed as a sporting goods article, a pool cue is a necessary component to the game of pool, billiards, carom or snooker. Seemingly, a simple gadget on first appearance, it can be extremely complicated in it’s construction. The normal length of a contemporary cue stick is fifty-eight in. in length. In the past, the common pool cue was fifty-seven inches long, but with the gain in the global health of the universal populace, the usual physical height has as well been on the increase. Custom cue stick lengths are typically available from United States manufacturers varying from fifty-six in. to sixty-two inches, with a custom cost fluctuating from ten to seventy-five dollars. As a rule, the elevated price is owing to length not simply being added to the shaft, but to the butt also. Imported cue sticks present only a slight capability for customization of length, with only a small number of of the top-end pool cues providing an additional inch in length for an additional $10. Due to the size of a snooker table, a snooker cue is normally sixty inches long with an extra extension to add up to six inches as required.

While the most common pool table in use today is the regulation six pocket table, there are actually a number of different types of pool tables that have been designed for different cue games. Other designs of pool tables include the twelve-foot table used for snooker or English billiards and the ten foot tables used during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, there was also a popular game of pool that was played on an octagon shaped table with a set of bumpers in the middle.
