Let The Size Of Your Room Determine The Pool Tables You Choose

If you are getting ready to purchase a new pool table, then you will need a guide to decide the correct size pool tables to fit into your room. A room may appear to be large enough for a pool table, but you should take measurements to be sure you are investing in the correct size table to fit in your room.

Many people ask about the outside dimensions of the table when choosing one to fit their room. This is a mistake, as the more important dimensions are the actual playing area. If you choose a table that will allow for the pool cues to fit into the room according to the playing area, there will be plenty of room for walking around the table.

The correct size table is not only determined by table size but also by length of pool cue that is chosen. Choosing 48 inch cues will allow a room to be 1′8″ smaller in each direction than if you choose the cues that are 58 inches in length. If you want to use longer pool cues, you may have to choose a smaller table to fit into the room.

A seven foot table has a playing are of 38 inches by 76 inches. This means that for 48 inch pool cues, you need a room size of no smaller than 11′3″ by 14′6″. For the larger pool cues you will need a room that is 12′11″ by 16′2″.

A standard pool table that is labeled as an eight foot table has a playing surface of 46″ by 88 inches. This table requires a minimum room size of 11′8″ by 15′4″. Fifty eight inch cues will require a room size of 13′6″ by 17′4″.

If you choose the even larger nine foot table, your room should be between 12′2″ by 16′4″ and 13′10″ by 18′. Once again, the smaller size room will require use of 48 inch cues while the larger one will allow use of the 58 inch cues.

Once the table size has been determined, you will want to be sure that you choose the largest table that will comfortably fit into the room. This will make your table proportionate to the room and more challenging for you to play.

While you will find many other important considerations in choosing a pool table, choosing the correct size is important in getting a table that can easily be played in the size room that you have. This choice may rule out many of the other choices you have in the table that you choose for your room.
