Billiard Pool Tables: An Overview

Billiard Pool Tables dating back 1845 are clearly antique tables; and one wonders if such a table is still fit to play on. Maybe not; but the best thing of having one is that you can brag about it to your friends who definitely have no way of purchasing it, leaving you the only person in your group (maybe even the entire state) to be one of the lucky few who owns one.
The history of the game began in the 15th century; and believe it or not, it came from an outdoor game akin to croquet. Due to unpredictable weather, people during that time were so ingenious that they transferred such game indoors using a table made from solid wood, covering the top with a piece of cloth. Alas! As the game evolved, the game we now know as billiards played on what we now call billiard pool tables, is born. One might ask why most of the table’s covering color is green. The green cloth was originally chosen with the purpose of depicting the color of the grass on the lawn.
Today, there are a lot of sizes and types of tables sold in various sporting goods stores around the world. Commercial manufacturing of billiard pool tables already took place in the United States in the 18th century. Since the day billiards became popular, it was not only the Americans who enjoyed playing the game but also people from other countries. Today, billiards is considered as one of the most awaited event in international sports competitions.
